One of My Favorite Lines from The Heart of Poseidon—I Really Enjoyed Writing It

“How do I know you’re not an alien?”

“How do I know you’re not an alien?” Adrian shot back. “Just
saying you’re not doesn’t mean much.” He turned to Logan. “I’ve got an idea—something that worked during World War II.”

He called out again: “Who won last year’s World Series?”

“How should I know? I’m a soccer fan.”

“Great,” Adrian muttered. “The one Air Force pilot who’s a Real
Madrid fan.” He turned to Logan. “Know anything about soccer?”

“That’s the game with the white ball and black spots, right?”

“Jesus.” Adrian tried another tack. “What’s your favorite beer? If
you say Schlitz, I’m gonna shoot you on general principle.”

The pilot laughed. “My old man drank that shit. No, I’m a
microbrew guy.”

“You think the Elosians have a concept of what a microbrew is?”
Logan asked.

“I’m tempted to believe the guy,” Adrian said.
